Akeu Mable is a visual artist and graduate from Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine art, Makerere University. Akeu works predominately in drawing and occasionally in watercolor painting and photography.

I feel like my work reflects different aspects of life that appeal to me. I enjoy the power of communication that art gives to me. Art has helped me breathe life into long forgotten cultures, get people to appreciate their environment more, save nature from its dangers but above all its more like therapy to me,” Akeu Mable

Creating art is something that I have always loved and was fortunate enough to continue with it throughout my university years.

“Considering the current tragic situation, we must ensure that we are safe so that we don't catch the covid 19 virus, for this to happen we have to put the SOPs in practice, and these include washing our hands or sanitizing, wearing masks and social distancing. It is crucial that we wear our masks, but it is also challenging because it has not been part of us it's something we need to get used to. As an artist, I want to use my visual skills to motivate and encourage people to wear their masks. Look at it this way, when you put on a mask you are not only protecting yourself by also the people around you! The lady in the artwork is my mother and I feel like even when I'm not in the right mood to put on a mask, I think about her, and I do it right away because this way I'm able to protect both her and I from catching the deadly virus. If you can't do it for yourself then do it for a loved one, “Akeu Mable
