Dr. Kate Cowcher

Art Historian
Kate Cowcher is Lecturer in Art History and Co-Director of the Centre for Contemporary Art at the University of St Andrews (UK). Her research broadly encompasses modernist arts in East Africa, cultural connections between Scotland and the African continent, and histories of art in the global Cold War and the Jet Age. Her work has been published in Art Bulletin, African Arts, Critical Interventions and Art History, as well as edited collections and exhibitions catalogues. In 2021, she curated "Dar to Dunoon: Modern African Art from the Argyll Collection." Her first book project is entitled Beyond the Feudal Fog: Art and Revolution in Ethiopia.
